Go team Ladybugs!!!

So you got my hubby's version of last weekend. I want to thank him sooooo much for taking over at home so that I could go be with the "ladybugs." Kim loves ladybugs, so she has named her ALS walk team accordingly.

First off, it was weird, and wonderful, to fly without the kids! But it was a little lonely. I'd rather sit with them than with strangers. Anyway, Jana and I met at Betsy's house, where we got to hang out with her adorable family. We watched High School Musical, and I think I am getting it for my kids for Christmas:).

The next day we drove down to San Antonio, by way of the amazing outlet mall in San Marcos. I was so happy that they agreed to stop at the outlets, since my sisters have outlawed the outlets with me (so I spent some time there when we all went to Vegas - how often do I get to shop without kids?)!!

We arrived at my great friends' house, the Godshalls, who were AMAZING hosts for the next 3 nights. Thanks, guys! I am so glad we got to stay with them and that my friends from different phases of life got to meet.

Friday we spent the day with Kim at her house. She is amazing. We tried on her cute shoes, and laughed at pics from our college days. It was hard to see her trapped inside a failing body, but amazing to see that her spirit is the same. Case in point: we are in Kim's room, she is wanting to get out of the house, and is stressed about some quirks having to do with the walk the next day. Her big sister/caretaker is on the phone with this lady who clearly thinks they have all the time in the world (they were all exhausted from the prewalk fundraising efforts). So Kim's sister is clearly trying to get off the phone, and so Kim starts moaning, "Heeelp Meee!" over and over. It was a classic Kim moment. She is the same in there, and I so admire her for her attitude and all the good she is doing as she raises awareness of ALS.

The walk day was awesome. Kim had the honor of cutting the ribbon to start the walk. She was decked out in her best walking shoes ;) and ladybug toenails. It was great to be there and see all the others there to support Kim. She has lots of fans, and rightly so. She is an inspiration to so many people. I feel honored to have been a part of this. A big thanks again to my hubby and my friend Melissa for helping out with the kids. And to all of you who donated to the walk fund.* And to Betsy and Jana for making this trip a blast - it was like we were 19 again . . . almost;).

I love you, Kim!!!

*It's not too late, by the way. They are accepting donations through December, so I will leave the link on my page 'til then;)

Such cute shoes!! What a good thing for you to get to do with friends and for a friend. How fun-- yet sad. I'm glad you had a good time.
