Fun in Utah

The girls and I went out to Utah and had lots of fun with our family there. Daija (Ashkii's sister) and her son Bridger came down from Boston and we all flew on the plane together.  It was nice to have them with us on the loooooooong flight with Rachel, who is at an adorable age but doesn't enjoy sitting for extended periods of time (i.e. longer than 3 minutes).

I am glad we were out there for some relaxing days before the business of the wedding hit.  It was really fun staying with my parents - our first time staying with them since all their kids moved out.  My Dad said he kinda lost that 'empty nester feeling' while we were there, but hopefully it was worth it and they are back to quiet days and nights:)  Rachel really enjoyed the "wee slide" by my parents' house.

My Mom took Savannah on a 'date' to the mall and they hit the Hello Kitty store . . .

We played some mini golf with cousins . . .

And Savannah rode a Go Kart with Grandma Linton . . .
We celebrated Savannah's b-day (AGAIN) with my family and Sav got a yummy b-day dessert, pretty white gladiolas, and a serenade.  Then some of the girls went to the play, Fiddler on the Roof.  Savannah loves to see musicals, and though exhausted by the end of the night, she really enjoyed herself.

The next day we went to a historical farm. The girls fed the ducks and Rachel was very excited to see the "neighs."
Savannah noticed that some people had just taken a hayride, so my Mom took her over to see if we could take a ride.  The woman told them that the hayrides were over for the day, but they could milk a cow.  Savannah's eyes lit up, and they came to tell me they were going to milk a cow.  My Mom and Savannah both thought it was very fun, and Savannah told her teacher that it was the best part of her trip to Utah!!  Great Grandma and Grandpa Lattin (who owned a dairy farm in NV) you would have been proud!
The girls had so much fun just playing at my parents' house, especially Savannah.  She stayed in my old room, and had it all 'set up' with my old dance costumes.  She would try them on and then ask me to teach her the dance I did in each costume . . . too bad my memory disappointed her.  She and my Mom set up all our old books in her room and she was amazed that my siblings and I had read all of those!  This is a pic of the girls doing a 'show' for me and my parents . . . too funny.
They helped my Mom make cookies one night - these were taken before my Mom added the chocolate chip and Rachel instantly grabbed and handful and had it in her mouth.  She is so FAST, especially when it comes to chocolate!  It really caught my Mom off guard!

Rachel waiting patiently for the cookies to bake . . .
One night Savannah set up a drive-through. She had the window open and as my cousins and Aunt and Uncle arrived, she had them step outside and order their food.  She had a blast.  She also enjoyed reading to aunts and uncles.  Aunt Lindsi also gave the girls pedicures.
We had a fabulous time and although we missed our boys, I am so grateful for the fun memories we made and all of the one-on-one time my kids had with my family.

That looks like a lot of fun. Makes me sad that I wasn't there :(

Rachel's face smashed against the oven is priceless, and Savvy looks pretty dang cute in our old dance costumes!

What a blessing that you are able to make it out to Utah once in awhile to visit with family! It looks like you were very busy while you were there, enjoying every minute! I hope it won't be too long before you get to go back again.
