Summer Days

According to Trevor, our in-house weather and season reporter, summer officially started a few days ago. Unfortunately for my kids, I am not in the best state for pool or beach excursions, but we have been trying to have fun anyway:). Last week was much less humid, so we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went to the National Zoo. It is a beautiful zoo, and we had a great time. Too bad my camera ran out of battery (oops) and this is the only picture I got! We watched the training of the sea lions and were all quite fascinated with it. It was a fun day.

We also made a "baby chain" - only now it is much smaller - the kids are taking turns each day removing a link. This is fun for them and both exciting/scary for me as it is getting soooo close!

Something funny that Savannah has started - paper creations! Of EVERYTHING. Like when she couldn't wear her dance recital costume before the big day, she made a tutu out of paper and staples (should've taken a picture, I know). I thought it was a one-time thing, but boy was I wrong. This is just a small sample of what she has done in the last few weeks.

She was really bummed when her flowers from Aunt Camille had to be thrown away, so she decided to make some (this was with a little help from me so as to calm her tears over the real thing):

Then she decided that since life is so unfair and we have no pets, she would make a fish tank, fish, and with Dad's help, a bottle of fish food:

Then came swords and a mask:

Trevor is not amused (but sometimes is impressed) by Savannah's artistic talents. He is, in fact, a little annoyed with her because this is all she wants to do. Perhaps you can tell since he wanted his face covered while helping her display her creations - a garden and a DVD player (for our car, since she wishes it had one.)

She also decided her doll house needed a garage:

Poor Trev, after all this - he really just wants her to play with him - she had an imaginary friend stop by for the last couple of days. Her name is Maggie. Trevor calls her annoying. Every time he tries to play with Savannah, she is busy making plans for Maggie to come over or for her and Maggie to play together. I find myself convincing her to find ways for all three of them to play together. Then I feel like I need to get out more!!!

Trev could literally play legos all day. Luckily, he started a tennis class this week, too, and is, of course, LOVING it. Like his Dad, if you hand him any kind of racquet he is in the zone.

Oh my goodness, Savannah is so good with paper!! I'm quite impressed, she's got quite a talent- and an easy birthday gift, just get her a pack of paper! Adam thinks it's great Trev is in Tennis lessons- he wishes he and Rich would've played more! I'm sure he's a natural talent, just like his dad! I am anxious for you to have the baby, and can't wait to see him/her and find out the name! We love you guys, and glad you are doing well!

I miss your guts!

Such cute creations from Savannah! I can only imagine how you're feeling anticipating the arrival of baby. Hope the next few weeks go well for you! It was great running into your mom last week -- I think the moms are going to try and get together -- just like old times . . . really old times!
