Hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day. My fam treated me with a yummy crepe breakfast in bed, cute homemade cards, and some sweet gifts. I love them so much. I have been thinking of Motherhood all week in preparation for a talk I was asked to give in our church meeting yesterday. I have thought of many of you - my mother, grandmothers, mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law, aunts, great aunts, cousins, sister-in-laws, "adopted" moms, and many friends, who share wisdom with me in word and through example. I even used some of your stories and insights in my talk, so thanks for providing material for me:). To my friends and family who desire the blessing of motherhood (or long for another child) and have yet to attain that in this life, I want you to know that I thought of your aching hearts yesterday and pray for you. This is my Mother's Day thought for all of you:) Even if you are not a mother, I think this parable applies to so many aspects of life.
I am reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families by Stephen R. Covey. In the book he discusses the “Miracle of the Chinese Bamboo Tree.” After the seed for this tree is planted, you see nothing “for four years except a tiny shoot coming out of a bulb. During those four years, all of the growth is underground in a massive root structure that spreads deep and wide in the earth. But then in the fifth year the Chinese bamboo tree grows up to eighty feet!”
As parents, we put so much effort into nurturing our children, yet we may not see results for awhile. We are laying the foundation, and if we are patient and keep nurturing, that “fifth year” will come!

I LOVE that analogy. Thanks for sharing. And thank you also for your sweet comments and prayers. Knowing I am so cared for help me tremendously!!! Trevor, Savannah and Rachel are "shooting" up and growing so fast. I sure do miss all of you ALOT!!!!
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your talk on Mother's Day. Is it my imagination or did you speak last Mother's Day as well? Or was that your husband? I seem to remember a Linton! Anyhow, I'm glad you had such a wonderful day!
I really enjoyed this ~ Thank you for sharing! The kids have grown so much and I love the girls 'flower bows'!
I wish I could've been there for your talk- I'm sure it was great! You are one of the mom's that I have always looked up to and learned from- you do it so well! I'm so grateful I've had such good examples in my adult life of how to be a great mom, and you are definitely included on that list. I appreciate your post very much... between you and me (and whoever reads these) Adam and I have finally started to "try"... back in November. I'm convinced it will happen when it's supposed to, but you can't help but feel a little disappointed each month that it doesn't. I am trying to remember it's not on my time, and really have been trying to just enjoy what we have now! Things are great and I can't complain! Thanks for your wonderful post!
thanks for the nice analogy and your thoughts. you are a wonderful mother and it shows in your sweet children. love you all. i would have liked to hear your talk also.
Brooke--what a wonderful thought. I am so glad that you shared it.
I miss you.
It's all in the perspective, and those five years go SOOO fast anyway! Great job with your precious little ones! (Too bad I missed some of your talk out in the lobby with Peeper!)
